-
- Not good. Did X-Windows give any error messages? We tried Executor
- with Caldera Network Desktop Preview I and it worked, although that
- was a while ago and there have been many changes to CND and Executor
- in that time.
-
- Al> I installed the ELF version of Executor. Should I have used

-
- In theory they both should work. ELF is just a newer (and better) way
- of laying out object binaries. Of course if you try a.out and that
- works, while the ELF version still crashes, that would tell us
- something.
-
- Al> What are the differences?
-
- The only difference other than the layout of the binary is that under
- ELF we wind up laying out memory differently than under a.out. That
- shouldn't cause a crash, and I believe a lot of people are using
- E/L/ELF already.
-
- Al> What do I need to install to support my Soundblaster Card?
-
- Make sure your kernel supports /dev/dsp. I'm not sure how you do that
- under CND.

-
- Thanks for the tips. We'll be changing the installation description
- part of the manual before E2 ships. As you point out, it currently
- assumes too much.

-
- We have a copy of Preview II here, although we never installed it
- after playing with Preview I. We've been talking to Caldera about
- working closer together, but there are currently some sticking points
- that have forced further discussions into the post-E2 timeline. Now
- that MacHack and our first meeting at Apple are done, I hope to stay
- in Albuquerque until E2 has been mastered and is sent off to be
- duplicated.
