  3. BETA 1 CD-ROMS ARE HERE
  4.  
  5. A week ago we received the 300 beta 1 CD-ROMs we had made up.  Because
  6. of the holiday weekend we didn't get a draft of the manual off to be
  7. photocopied until Tuesday.  Wednesday we sent the first batch of
  8. CD-ROMs to people who had paid to receive them.
  9.  
  10. We're now in the process of getting copies out to the authors of the
  11. shareware, freeware and demoware included on the CD-ROM.  The next set
  12. will go to people at Apple, computer press, regular press, Mac-only
  13. ISVs and potential distributors.  We now can turn around beta1 orders
  14. (both new orders and $25 beta1 copies to existing customers) in a day.

  19. In the meantime we've fixed a few bugs here and there and Mat is
  20. developing an updater program so that people with Executor 2 CD-ROMs
  21. (beta or production) will be able to download bleeding edge patches
  22. from the net.

  24. ARDI ON TV
  25.  
  26. In the U.S., on Wednesday, June 12, there will be a PBS TV show that
  27. is video update to Robert X. Cringely's _Accidental Empires_.  I'm not
  28. sure what the name of the show is.  Some footage of ARDI employees
  29. (may only be a couple minutes -- we're not the stars of this show) Mat
  30. Hostetter, Bill Goldman and myself apparently made it into the final
  31. cut, but I haven't seen it myself so I don't know just how goofy we'll
  32. appear.  Yes, overs six months ago Robert X. Cringely brought a film
  33. crew to ARDI world headquarters to shoot the footage.  We are honored.

  35. CLIFF AT MACHACK '96
  36.  
  37. Mat Hostetter and I wrote a new white paper (Mat's previous white
  38. paper is available as ftp://ftp.ardi.com/pub/SynPaper) for MacHack
  39. '96.  I'll be presenting it and giving Executor demos during the
  40. small, but influencial conference.  After the paper has been published
  41. we'll make it available on our web site.  http://www.machack.com

  45. ARDI GETS FASTER NET CONNECT (hopefully)

  47. US West is theoretically on premesis to install a T1 line at ARDI.
  48. We've had a lot of trouble getting US West to do their part, but with
  49. any luck we should be on the net at 224k soon, and if we need more
  50. bandwidth we'll easily be able to move up to full T1 (assuming
  51. Executor sales continue to rise).  Currently ardi.com is connected
  52. through a 24-hour 28.8k PPP dialup connect.  After the upgrade we'll
  53. start the process of building the complete "what works, what doesn't"
  54. database.

  58. As always, thanks for your interest in Executor.  It's looking like
  59. Executor 2 will be a successful product.  We'll spend the revenue
  60. wisely.  Remember, we've come this far on a shoestring budget.  The
  61. second half of '96 should be a very exciting time.
