- Michael> Hello, As a registered user of Executor 1.99 since last
- Michael> year, I am glad to see the final version (albeit beta) of
- Michael> Executor. It looks great!
-
- Thanks. Many of the visual tune-ups are due to suggestions from Jon
- Abbott. He's sent us a few more that we hope to incorporate into the
- final version, but the changes won't be that big.
-
- Michael> My questions though are: 1) If WE paid the fee, why
- Michael> can't we unlock the beta?
-
- It's a horse and cart type issue.
-
- We were getting so heavily pirated (and the pirates were even calling
- up our tech. support lines) that we decided we had to move from an
- unlockable demo to a truly crippled demo.
-
- This does *NOT* mean that you'll be locked out of getting updates via
- the net, at least not for much longer. What it does mean is that we
- will be sending Executor 2 CD-ROMs to all the 1.<x> licensees, and
- then it we'll make patches available electronically that will only be
- useful to people who have the CD-ROM.
-
- So the period between when beta0 came out and when E2 comes out is an
- unfortunate time when you can't pick up free updates. We wish we
- didn't have to do this, but once we've completed the transition it
- won't be as painful anymore.
-
- Michael> 2) If there is an official beta testing program, can we
- Michael> join?
-
- We hand picked about a dozen people to send copies of beta0 to. Those
- same dozen people will also get a copy of beta1. We're also allowing
- people to get beta1 for $25, which covers the cost of us making a
- bunch extra and also keeps the requests for beta1 down to a managable
- level, which is needed because all three of us are working full time
- to get the Executor 2, the real thing, out the door.
-
- Michael> 3) If we can join the beta program, is there a place to
- Michael> download the betas without the mass of people having
- Michael> access?
-
- No. There will never be a way to download non-crippled versions of
- Executor again. The non-crippled versions will be on CD-ROMs.
- Bleeding edge *patches* to the non-crippled versions will become
- available, but everyone will need a CD-ROM (either beta1 or the final
- E2) to use those patches.
-
- Michael> Personally, I use Executor in Win95/WinNT/DOS/OS/2

- Now officially called "MacOS 8".

- Michael> due out soon that Executor might have a few patches

- I doubt you'll see it within a year.
-
- Michael> coming, but I believe the Mac emulator market ends and
- Michael> begins with Executor. OpenMac, a propriety program that
- Michael> offers read/write does not compare to Executor, the real

-
- MAE is quite good in terms of compatibility, but don't expect to see
- it on the PC any time soon.
-
- Michael> Sincerely,
-
- Michael> Michael Joseph Rebar, DPM, DO
-
- Again, sorry about the transitional pain associated with the new
- crippled demos. It will get better once E2 is out.
