  1. Downloaded beta0 r2, then r3.  First of all, the graphics (icons, splash
  2. screen, etc.) look great!  Also, I can read Mac formatted Zip disks on my
  3. parallel drive!  This is a great addition!  NIH Image ran rather zippily
  4. (sorry) off of the Zip drive considering my ancient machine (386DX25, 20 MB
  5. RAM, Herc Dyna Pro with 2 MB DRAM).  I can no longer read IBM or
  6. Mac-formatted Zip disks under Warp with the beta's, but I guess that's due
  7. to the removed code, coupled with the way a VDM is handled by Warp...
  8. (please correct me if I'm wrong and even if this is sort-of right- I'd be
  9. interested in a more intelligent explanation than the one I just guessed.)
  10. I can read/write IBM Zips under Warp with 1.99q12.

  12. I don't know if Speedometer readings are valid under the crippled beta0's,
  13. but I ran the tests anyway under DOS and Warp (with 16 MB DPMI memory
  14. allocated).  Here are the results along with results from previous E/D
  15. versions, since I made a mistake in one of my earlier posts.

  25. I still don't really notice a slowdown when running apps, but Speedometer
  26. says it's a little slower than q12.

  28. I also copied down the various traceback messages when attempting to run
  29. PhotoWorks for MacIntosh under q12, beta0r2 and r3, but since I figure that
  30. the crashes are due to a need for Quicktime support by this app, that I
  31. won't send it in unless you request it.  (PhotoWorks can be downloaded free
  32. from the Seattle Filmworks Web page at www.filmworks.com).

  34. I braved running this app because I noticed Speedometer successfully ran the
  35. 8 bit Color Quicktime tests, but I guess it only tests a fraction of
  36. Quicktime (again corrections and/or additions are welcome and appreciated).

  38. Overall, E/D is looking and performing better with every revision.  Great
  39. work ARDI!
