  9. I've already registered one Mac program I use heavily in Executor/DOS
  10. (GraphicConvertor 2.4) because it handles something like 50 graphics
  11. formats very well, and it lets me do batch conversions of PICT files
  12. to OS/2 BMP files (which is a really neat concept, AFAIC).

  17. What does that have to do with your needs, or with overall Mac software
  18. availability?  A lot of us have used the net and mail order as our main
  19. software sources for YEARS.  :-)

  24. *Sigh*.  Doom and Descent have *already* been ported to Macs, and
  25. Marathon (a VERY wsimilar game) was ported to the PC world FROM the
  26. Mac platform.  Also, AFAIK, slick network games like Bolo and NetTrek
  27. are *still* Mac-only, and not on the PC at all.

  31. NSCA Telnet v2.6 (probably not the latest version) is an excellent free
  32. general FTP server for the Mac (I use it on my IIci at work), and also
  33. provides a simple wFTP client (compared to Anarchie and Fetch, two VERY
  34. good FTP Mac clients) and a decent telnet client.  I don't know about
  35. a free telnet server offhand, since I've not had a need for one.

  37. The hint: You need to learn more about the Mac, methinx, and the real
  38. nature of the stuff available for it, before tossing out such general
  39. statements about its overall worthlessness based on your (apparently)
  40. limited first impressions.
