  12. (And their track record is good: 7.5.3, the latest system, runs on a 1986
  13. 6800 Mac Plus today without any change in hardware. A hard disk and enough
  14. RAM is all that may be missing)

  16. But Copland is a different story. It is being specifically designed to get
  17. the most from the PowerPC macs. My understanding is that System 7 will
  18. continue to be tweaked for 680x0 machines, but System 8 (Copland), System
  19. 9 (Gershwin) etc. will only run on the RISC machines. I don't know what
  20. emulation can do with this--it would have to emulate an entirely different
  21. processor.
