- >Be sure to read the license conditions. ;>
-
- A "License" is a holdover from the mainframe world, it was a signed agreement
- between the purchaser of a product and the manufacturer, which each agreeing to
- some conditions. The so called "shrink wrap license" that comes with PC
- products is really a disclaimer, the big computer companies would like you to
- think of it differently, but no court on the planet has ever upheld anything
- written in a "shrink wrap license." Software is protected in most countries by
- copyright law. THe "shrink warp license" is a myth.
-
- Think of it this way. I go into a store, purchase some spark plugs for my
- Toyota, I get then home, inside the box is a little piece of paper saying that
- I promise to use these spark plugs only in a Volvo.
-
- Another example, I buy a car, drive it home, when I open up the trunk (boot for
- those of you not in America) and there is a sticker saying that I can't change
- the tires (tyres) without written permission for the manufacturer!
-
- Ignore the so called licenses, obey copyright and you'll be legal.
