Has anyone gotten MacDoom to work? Is it even possible? I put in system
7 in the options and MacDoom loaded, but then the sceen was all messed up
and it crashed, I'm assuming it has something to do with QuickDraw.
Actually I decided to try it the other day for fun. Yes it does work!!
Music doesn't work needs QuickTime 2.0. but sound fx works just fine.
Try: executor -memory 36M -system 7.1.0
I only have 8 MB of ram. For some reason I need to use a large number to fake out doom so it will work. Once it loaded it played just fine in the third from the smallest window in low detail (smallest window zooms :D)
I am running on a 486DX4100 so users on a Pentium 90 on up could possibly run Doom in a large enough window to be satisfied. I also recommend getting the newest version of executor 1.99q12 (I use Dos) and univbe 5.1a. If you don't have either I wouldn't bother even trying to load MacDoom. Especially if you can't get VBE 2.0 and linear map buffering.
MacDoom is a good example to show how speedy the emulation is. Who knows maybe when FPU and PPC support is available maybe I can run MacDoom in 320x200 using the largest screen.
I know since I am a dos user this is pointless but fun to try anyways.

P.S. Windows 95 Doom can support 640X480 res but it is slow in 320x200 compaired to Dos. I get about 14fps in Doom95 (Demo) and 27fps in Dos and 24fps using Dos Doom in Windows 95. If they would make a hi-res Dos version it would actually be playable on my machine like Duke3D. But of course that is a completely different newsgroup.
