- : I believe that this is impossible due to hardware limitations on PC
- : floppy drives. You can read Mac 1.44 mb disks on a PC drive, but the
- : Mac uses a goofy drive mechanism and goofy disk format to squeeze 800k
- : onto a low density disk (whereas PC low density disks are only 720k);
- : PC drives cannot read this format. The software you want cannot be
- : written.

- Actually Central Point Software used to make a board, called the option
- board deluxe, that would allow you to write, read, and format 800KB Mac disks
- on a PC, last I heard this boards were being sold for about $50, the only
- detail is that they are not compatible with all PCs, it mostly depends on
- the type of floppy drives and disk controlers, also the software is for dos
- only.
- The option board deluxe would install on an 8 bit slot, and would connect
- on one end at the floppy controler and at the other end at the drive.
- The $50 dollar price was about 2 years ago, and I have not seen them around,
- maybe Central Point might still have some.
- The last version of the software was 5.4 or 5.5.
- The drive that I know that can read 800KB Mac disks with the option board is
- TEAK, but it also depends on the controler, and motherboard and may not work
- with newer computers.
