I think that "most" installers *do* work, unfortunately the installer
for Word 5 doesn't, and that's fairly popular.  I know there are some
others that don't work as well, but Word 5 is the one that bites us
the most.

Installers based on Stuffit all should work.
Smaller Installer (based on Compact Pro) should work.
VISE based installers should work.

There are two major problems.

The first problem is that at one time Apple's Installer (which is what
Word 5 uses, for instance) did some bad things, like call context
dependent subroutines that looked back on the stack to determine from
where they had been called.  That installer was used by a number of
programs and all of them had trouble not only under Executor, but also
under Apple's own Macintosh Applications Environment (MAE) version 1
(I think they've fixed it).

The second problem is that Executor isn't as clever about remembering
the contents of disks that have already been ejected as MacOS is, so
installers that count on the ability to have an ejected volume still
on-line will not work under Executor.  After Executor 2 ships we'll
devote some time to solving this problem.

sometime.
