  15. Note to readers: I believe you will find that Executor is not limited
  16. to the applications that came with it.  Download a copy and test it
  17. for yourself.  Saul has an axe to grind; see below.

  30. ARDI tried repeatedly to discuss Saul's problem with Saul, but Saul
  31. was uncooperative and sent missives that were largely invective and
  32. insults rather than honest attempts to try to solve the problem.

  34. As such, I offered Saul a refund, even past the 30-day money back
  35. guarantee date and instructed all ARDI employees to ignore all e-mail
  36. from Saul.  That is not a tack I took lightly, in fact, Saul is unique
  37. in provoking such a response.

  47. We are currently aware of some people who are still having trouble
  48. reading and writing Macintosh formatted floppies under Executor/DOS.
  49. For most of the people with this problem "-nosound" is a temporary
  50. workaround.  There are still a few people for whom this doesn't work,
  51. and that's a great concern to us.

  53. Saul, however, was running Liinux.  I am not sure what was/is causing
  54. Executor/Linux to not read Mac formatted floppies on his system, but
  55. other than refunding his money, I will have nothing else to do with
  56. Saul.

  58. The last e-mail I received from Saul (in September of 1995) contained:

  64. The matter in question was that Executor/Linux on his system couldn't
  65. access Mac formatted floppies and we refused to continue discussing
  66. his problem due to his belligerence.  Aside from a slightly larger
  67. quotation of Saul's own words, my response to that piece of e-mail is
  68. reproduced between the two lines of "="s.

  90. I was hoping to ignore Saul's first post to c.e.m.e., but seeing
  91. another post where he claims "I've also had no help from ARDI in
  92. resolving this problem and only offers to refund my money if not
  93. satisfied" has spurred me to make this post so that our side is known:

  99.     Only when Saul discarded even the merest pretense of civility
  100.     did we refuse to continue discussing the problem with him

  102.     Even though the 30-day guarantee had expired we still offered
  103.     (and still offer) Saul a refund

  105. I hope that people reading this do not worry that they could receive
  106. the silent treatment from ARDI if they were to overlook a fine point
  107. of etiquette.  That's not what happened.  After all, I realize that
  108. e-mail is an imperfect medium.  I try hard to give everyone the
  109. benefit of the doubt.  I understand that when software doesn't work as
  110. expected it is easy to get upset (we're not too happy about it over
  111. here).  As such, it's extremely unlikely that anyone could
  112. inadvertantly create such feelings of ill-will as to be denied further
  113. technical support from ARDI; to reach such a state you would have to
  114. try very hard.
