  12. Beginning with the Executor 2 beta, we will have two separate
  13. versions, the demo version and the commercial version.

  15. The demo version will be time limited, and have a few other
  16. limitations built in.  It will not be possible to convert this version
  17. to the commercial version because some of the limitations will be done
  18. by actually removing code.  The demo version will be publicly
  19. redistributable.

  22. available electronically.  Patches to the commercial version *will* be
  23. available electronically, but the patches will not be of any use to
  24. the demo users.

  33. You'll need a copy from ARDI, but all purchasers of 1.99<x> will
  34. automatically be sent a CD-ROM containing both the demo and the
  35. commercial version of Executor.  The demo version will be on the
  36. CD-ROM so it will be easy for Executor owners to leave a demo copy on
  37. a friend's machine.  We greatly appreciate the word of mouth
  38. advertising that many of our current customers do for us.

  40. We are adopting these changes because too many serial numbers and
  41. passwords have been found on bulletin boards and even Usenet groups.
  42. In addition to s/n and keys, there are also cracks that bypass the
  43. timer code.  Since code will be missing from the demo version, cracks
  44. that just bypass the timer still won't result in a fully-functional
  45. demo version.  It will still be possible for people to illegally copy
  46. the commercial version, but it will require more modem time and it
  47. will be easier to prosecute violaters.
