  2. In article <4ec40s$cft@news.voicenet.com> chessman@voicenet.com (ChessMan) writes:
  3.
  4.     ChessMan> Sorry, I didn't realize how negative my post sounded
  5.     ChessMan> until i read it again.  I'm still amazed at the
  6.     ChessMan> Speedometer results running on a 90 mhz Pentium - and
  7.     ChessMan> the speed for a chess program running in emulation is
  8.     ChessMan> pretty amazing too.  It wasn't too many years ago that
  9.     ChessMan> the speed were talking about in emulation was considered
  10.     ChessMan> BLAZING for a MAC.  Keep up the good work folks!
  11.
  12. I am very happy that the vast majority of people contributing to
  13. comp.mac.emulators.misc are aware that Executor is a product that is
  14. easily misunderstood, and as such, very few people take what may
  15. appear to be negative comments personally.
  16.
  17. Because Executor doesn't yet run everything, it is tricky to mention
  18. it briefly without either listing so many limitations that it sounds
  19. like Executor is totally useless, or without listing too few
  20. limitations and having someone be disappointed when they find out it is
  21. missing a major feature, like QuickTime, for example.
  22.
  23. The question "Executor isn't useful for me, so what *is* it useful
  24. for" comes up often and on any other newsgroup could easily be
  25. mistaken as a personal attack and rapidly escalate into a flame war.
  26. I'm quite glad to see that this doesn't happen here, nor does the
  27. opposite: "Executor does everything that I want to do, therefore it's
  28. the perfect solution for everyone".
  29.
  30. Thank you ChessMan and all the other players for keeping up high
  31. signal-to-noise and hospitality-to-thoughtlessness ratios.  We
  32. (meaning Melissa -- she's *that* good) will also be working on getting
  33. a mini-FAQ regularly posted which will also help keep everyone
  34. cordial, since it will allow the incredibly frequently asked questions
  35. to be answered automatically.
  36.
  37. Again, thanks.
  38.
