- While Executor does emulate only a 68K Mac at this time,
- the product is far from dead. First, the 68K emulation
- demonstrates just how far Synthetic68K can go. It is very
- logical to assume that PPC emulation is actually possible
- on a CICS/RISC hybrid such as the PentPro or a competing
- RISC platform, such as the DEC Alpha or Sun SPARC.
-
- When I was in college, I worked for USC's Computing
- Services. The NeXT team was working on all kinds of
- emulation ideas, just to test theories versus real
- performance. I've even seen MVS and VM emulated on a
- NeXT platform by some wacked-out CS guys with too much
- free time.
-
- Regardless, many of us use Executor more for data transfer
- than program compatibility. I am the "tech"/artist for
- our small publishing company. The ability to easily and
- intuitatively move Mac <---> PC data means a lot to us.
- Programs such as Mac-In-DOS never really cut it.
-
- As for the 68K being dead, most schools and print shops
- aren't about to dump every LC, IIci, Quadra, et cetera.
- As a result, companies such as Adobe have continued to
- issue new software. Anyway, the thing runs Crystal Quest,
- so I'm happy.
