- Along the line of my "Linux Journal" article (issue 19, Nov 1995) I have
- the following to say from the point of view of a 100% Linux user: Executor
- provides much needed functionality for Linux since one can run commercial
- productivity applications. Linux by itself does not provide stable Windows
- emulation yet (and we are waiting and waiting and ...). There have only a few
- commercial wordprocessors, spreadsheets, etc. been ported to Linux. So one
- reasonable alternative is to use executor and Mac-applications to bridge
- this gap. Also, Mac applications can he bought fairly cheap from Mac users.
- Bottomline, in the short term executor can help me to get some much needed
- applications running under Linux.
-
- The future might look different though. Linux applications are emerging at a
- rapid pace at the moment. Also the Linux Windows emulator WINE does make
- steps forward and is expected to run major Windows applications (like
- AmiPro) in the not-too-far future. The usefullness of executor has to be
- re-evaluated at that stage of the game.
-
- I hope this short wrap-up helps anyone ...
