- Well, I have to admit, with a sheepish expression on my face, that I
- realized last night I left out a rather "minor" detail in my system
- configuration. To wit:
-
- Having downloaded 1.99p6, I installed it on my machine and gave it a
- whirl. Same results as before. Getting a bit frustrated, I suddenly
- recalled that my machine at the office (with Win95) worked fine. So I
- popped out my Win3.1 cartridge (I use a 270MB IDE SyQuest drive for my
- boot device) and popped in my Win95 cartridge. One reboot and one
- Executor installation later, I was reading floppies, writing floppies,
- formatting floppies, all as advertised. Joy.
-
- It was at this point that my brain gigged to the fact that on my DOS/Win
- disk, I run Stacker 4.0, whereas I don't on my Win95 disk. Executor
- reads the stacked drive with no problem, but might the Stacker driver in
- memory be causing problems resulting in the floppy issues we've been
- kicking around?
-
- I apologize for overlooking this tidbit at the outset of our little
- adventure, but the upshot of the whole thing is that I've got a high
- level of confidence in ARDI and Executor, so you'll probably be seeing
- my purchase shortly after Christmas.
-
- Thanks for all your help,
- - Jeff
-
- P.S. One little thing--after I use a Mac floppy, if I close its window
- and eject the disk, then Check for Floppy, the old floppy's icon remains
- on the Hot Band, and if I click on the icon I still get that floppy's
- window, even though it's not in the drive. Is this intentional?
