- Hi Folks,
-
- Hackathon II has officially begun, although we got off to a rough
- start. Cotton flew in from Boston and his PC was damaged in transit.
- Last time he flew out he was allowed to insure it, this time he
- wasn't. Ouch. We should have a new motherboard on Wednesday. In the
- meantime Mat and he are sharing a machine.
-
- Cotton and Mat have fixed a major bug in 32-bit color quickdraw and
- they wrote few missing color quickdraw routines. Those fixes allow
- Ultima III and Rescue to run nicely and for Photoshop 3 to run better.
- A regression that was preventing a number of programs (PGA Tour Golf
- and Kid Pix come to mind) has been fixed. I've fixed a few filesystem
- bugs, so now "Bodyworks' Installer" works and KidPix can save and
- restore pictures now.
-
- Tonight Mat and Cotton are working more on Photoshop 3 and I am trying
- to find out why FileMaker Pro hasn't run under Executor in a long time
- (but it *did* run under Executor/DOS 1.2). During the day, Melissa is
- processing credit card registrations and doing tech. support. She's
- also working on our manuals and web pages from home.
- http://www.ardi.com is making steady progress due to her effort. If
- you see places that would be appropriate for links to our WWW pages,
- please suggest them.
-
- During the next two weeks we will be working on these applications:
-
- Abbreviationes BodyWorks Browser
- Canvas Demo Claris Organizer ClarisWorks 3.0,
- Dr. Razz FileMaker Pro 2.1 Fontographer 3.5,
- GIFconverter Greg's Buttons HyperCard 2.1, 2.2
- Illustrator 5.5, LabanWriter MacDraw Pro
- MacGambit Nisus Writer Norton Utilities 2.0
- PageMaker 4.2, 5.0 Photoshop 3.0 Persuasion 2.1, 3.0
- Quark XPress 3.3 Quicken 5 SimuVent
- Swivel 3D 2.0 Think C 7.0 (maybe) WriteNow 4.0
-
- and these games:
-
- Microsoft Flight Simulator 4.0 Glypha Oxyd
- Realmz SimLife Spheres
- Swoop
-
- There's no guarantee that we'll make progress on any particular
- application, but I'd *guess* we'll make significant progress on at
- least three quarters of those listed above.
-
- In addition we'll be going through our bugs database trying to find
- "penetrating" bugs, i.e. ones that exist in several different
- programs. Fixing penetrating bugs is one of the most efficient ways
- for us to boost Executor's compatibility with apps in general.
-
- If you've read this far, then you probably are paying fairly close
- attention to what we're up to. In general we don't use this mailing
- list to directly ask people to license Executor, but due to a few
- unexpected expenses (Cotton's damaged machine being the most recent
- one), we would greatly welcome any registrations done in the next week
- or two. The $49 student/educator price and the $99 commercial prices
- will be going away in the next couple of months, so if you're planning
- on exercising that option anyway, now would be a good time for us.
-
- We hope to have our first BleedingEdge patch to 1.99p out in the next
- couple of days.
-
- Thanks for your continued support.
