  15. a couple of us have been having major troubles installing an ELF version 
  16. of the news SVGA lib.  are you working with this?

  18. also, have you removed the old version?  i think this has to happen in 
  19. order for ld to use the lib.

  21. ie, i don't think you can have two libvga.so.1 symbolic links around.  
  22. did you run ldconfig -v after installing to determine what ld is seeing?

  24. i can apparently compile the new SVGA lib in ELF, a couple of warnings, 
  25. but nothing big.  unfornutately the new libs just don't work.  this is 
  26. probably because i just don't have a clue about how to install a new lib 
  27. anyway (well, i'm not _totally_ clueless...).

  30. earlier on the list we were discussing other programs that can or
  31. cannot use the new lib.  since executor seems to start up whether or
  32. not the lib is present it's not the best diagnostic.  i was trying to
  33. use zgv or doom instead since these don't crash my console display (i
  34. hate having to telnet in as root to reboot the machine...).

  36. let us know what doom or zgv or sasteroids or any other prog that uses
  37. libvga says when you try to run them.

  39. anyway, i've always considered the BleedingEdge releases to be
  40. something like the 1.3.* kernels or 1.1.* kernels.  it's way beta and
  41. i try not to complain when it won't work for me since i wouldn't know
  42. how to get it to work.
