  10. This is a symptom of problems with the system file.  What's happening
  11. is that there is font selection code that knows that if all else
  12. fails, the system font is always present and can be used.  However, if
  13. the System file is in a bad state, this is no longer true.  We
  14. *should* have a test for this very early in Executor's startup so that
  15. a polite message can be printed, and we *will* have such a thing
  16. before 2.0 ships (better error messages are the next large set of mods
  17. that we'll be introducing to Executor).

  19. However, if this is from a virgin installation, I'm not really sure
  20. what could be going wrong.  The system file should be installed
  21. automatically.  1.99n had a bug that caused the system file to get
  22. messed up if you ran Desktop Textures, changed the background and then
  23. did anything that caused a crash.  However, that has been fixed in
  24. 1.99o.  If you're not running 1.99o, try that.

  26. You don't mention where you get Executor from, but the "canonical"
  27. location is ftp.ardi.com:/pub/Executor_DOS.
