  1. Hi Folks,

  3. It's been over a week since the end of Hackathon I and I'm sure some
  4. of you are wondering when we'll release a BleedingEdge update or
  5. 1.99p.  The answer is "real soon now".  Once again, I am the gating
  6. factor.  I was out of town Friday through Sunday morning, I then was
  7. asleep the rest of Sunday.  I spent half of Monday attacking some of
  8. my pending e-mail and the other half on personal matters.  Today I
  9. need to get all our pending orders out (have to go out and pick up
  10. some spare floppy disks and get some more copies of the FAQ printed
  11. up), hack through my pending e-mail and then I can get back to
  12. finishing up some System 7 filesystem work and then release a
  13. BleedingEdge version.
  14.  
  15. I don't want to release a BleedingEdge version before I have my
  16. filesystem stuff finished because the "-system 7" option will be much
  17. more useful with my filesystem mods.

  19. Last week, before I left town, I did manage to successfully install
  20. OS/2 (had to do it via floppies -- ick) and Caldera Network Desktop
  21. (super simple installation -- no floppies) on "Presto", our portable
  22. demo unit.  I'm guessing that tracking down the HPFS related Executor
  23. problems will now be fairly easy -- the hardest part will be finding
  24. the time to do so.

  26. Mat's still hard at work on the NEXTSTEP (re)port.  Cotton is busy
  27. developing some advanced error reporting code (no more cryptic
  28. backtraces).  Melissa is about a month away from moving to Albuquerque
  29. and collectively we have a good idea of what our goals are for 2.0,
  30. although we haven't drafted a specific 2.0 document yet.  As soon as
  31. we do, we'll run it by everyone here for comments.
