  8. The next *experimental* version, 1.99p, may be out as early as a week
  9. from now, or may be out as late as a month from now.  I've been wrong
  10. when I've predicted things a little more closely in the past.
  11. Internally we've already done a lot of core work, but we haven't been
  12. able to get all the bugs out that we introduced in 1.99n, so that will
  13. be what holds us back.

  15. The next *official* version, 2.0, may be out as early as the beginning
  16. of November.  I don't know if we'll slip much beyond that -- our
  17. pocketbook can't take much more slippage.  There is a minimal amount
  18. of functionality and compatbility that we need before we can go
  19. shrink-wrap.  We also need to rewrite our manual and get our new
  20. packaging done.

  25. It is not impossible, but it is not scheduled for 2.0.  Beyond 2.0 we
  26. hope to have sound and serial port added fairly quickly, but we *must*
  27. get 2.0 out as a shrink-wrapped product, first.

  32. 1.99p will be available from the usual places.  There will be
  33. provisions for all current 1.x owners to get a complete,
  34. non-time-limited copy of 2.0, but we may decide to not make a 2.0 time
  35. limited version avaliable for the general public.  We haven't decided
  36. that yet.

  41. Before 2.0 goes into beta, $99 commercial, $49 educational and
  42. student.  After 2.0 goes into beta the student prices will dissappear,
  43. the educational price will rise to $125 and the suggested retail price
  44. for the commercial version will be $249.  1.x owners will be entitled
  45. to a *free* upgrade, although they may be required to pick it up
  46. electronically.
