  7. For us, 1.99n works *much* better than 1.99m.  I am sorry that you are

  21. Perhaps the bug is related to registering, perhaps that would have
  22. happened the second time your run Executor.  If you are willing to do
  23. some tests for us, here's what would help us the most:

  25.     Install Executor from Scratch
  26.  
  27.     Run it with no arguments, don't register, then run globe, then quit
  28.  
  29.     Run it again with no arguments, don't register and run globe and
  30.         quit again
  31.  
  32.     Run it again with no arguments, this time register it, then run
  33.         globe and quit
  34.  
  35.     Run it again with no arguments, don't register and run globe and
  36.         quit
  37.  
  38. That's an attempt to see if the problem is in registering or just
  39. running it.  Is there any chance you were low on disk space when you
  40. registered it the first time?  Executor should be smart and tell you
  41. if it runs out of disk space (it probably needs about an additional
  42. 1.5 MB), but that's the only thing I can think of off the top of my
  43. head that would cause your trouble.

  55. Well this certainly irritates me, too.  I know several other people
  56. have picked up E/L 1.99n, but I don't know how many people have
  57. installed it, or what they think.  We only have a limited number of
  58. machines for testing over here, so these things can happen.

  60. If you are willing to do some testing on our behalf, please try what I
  61. suggest above and send the info to "bugs@ardi.com".  If not, we'll
  62. have to wait for the same problem to affect someone else who can
  63. afford the time to work with us to track this down.  I'm very sorry
  64. that it happened, but as of yet I'm at a total loss for an
  65. explanation.

  67. Other people installing Executor/Linux 1.99n may want to do this first:

  70.     mv /usr/local/lib/executor /usr/local/lib/executor.199m

  72. I have entered a Problem Report into our bug tracking database that
  73. requests that the FAQ be changed and maybe the makefile used to
  74. install Executor.  The former can warn people the latter could be set
  75. up to automatically make a backup.
