  8. Almost all of ARDI's engineering work is done by three people: Mat
  9. Hostetter, Cotton Seed and myself.  All three of us are working almost
  10. all our waking hours on Executor.  If bugs are found that are
  11. "showstoppers", a release date will slip; there's almost no way to
  12. speed things up since we're already working at full capacity.  If, on
  13. top of that, one of us has a mother-in-law rushed to the hospital,
  14. that will only make things worse.

  16. In the past when we've slipped I've periodically made guesses as to
  17. when we'd be done.  The problem with that strategy is more often than
  18. not my guesses were incorrect.  So this time, after announcing a slip
  19. or two, I've been largely silent.  This is a good thing, because
  20. several showstoppers did rear their heads and my mother-in-law, did
  21. wind up in the critical care unit.

  23. We have one set of bug fixes we're waiting on from Cotton, and I still
  24. have a bunch of installation issues to work on (improved FAQ, better
  25. configution files, etc.).  I suspect 1.99n will be out later today,
  26. for suitably long definitions of today (i.e. I don't plan on going
  27. home until it's out, although that's assuming my mother-in-law remains
  28. stable).

  35. As I've mentioned before, I think 1.99n will be much more stable than
  36. 1.99m.  Since we're back scrounging for money, this is a good thing.
  37. It means we'll be able to show 1.99n to skeptical people and they
  38. won't be put off by the file browser's erratic behaviour.  We found
  39. and fixed a lot more bugs in the browser than we thought were there.

  41. Summary:  1.99n should be out in the next 24 hours, but it may not be.
