- Veeder> You are right in that the purpous of the ten minutes

-
- No, the point of the demo mode at all is to allow each prospective
- Executor purchaser to decide for herself/himself whether or not
- Executor currently is worth buying, either for use immediately in the
- 1.99<x> form, or later, or perhaps as a purchase now with knowledge of
- upcoming free upgrades. The ten minute time out is just to prevent
- people from using demo mode indefinitely instead of purchasing the
- software. This is a subtle, but real difference.
-
- We realize that some people will elect not to purchase Executor and
- will still use it occasionally to copy a file here or there, and that
- doesn't bother us, per-se, although that's not the intent of the demo
- mode.
-

-
- I have absolutely no idea what you mean by "does not appear to be
- coming out with the commercial version". This list is used to keep
- everyone informed as to the progress we're making towards the release
- of 2.0. If you can't see the progress that's being made, you may want
- to check with your e-mail provider, for you are probably missing most
- of the posts to this newsgroup.
-
- Veeder> Until a fully tested, fully feature-implimented version
- Veeder> comes out, the ten minute limit would not work and get me
- Veeder> to buy Executor.
-
- No offense to Veeder, but the sale of one license of Executor to
- Veeder will result in revenues of (if sold now, before 2.0 comes out)
- at most $99 and development expenses of several hundred thousand
- dollars. As such, our goal isn't to sell one copy to Veeder. In
- fact, there is an entire class of people that we're not particularly
- aiming Executor at, because we know that it is *much* more profitable
- to aim Executor towards people who *do* buy software they find useful.
-
- Veeder> For the time being, and unless Ardi wants to get rid of
- Veeder> the ten minute timer all together, a small clock
- Veeder> indicating time left would be helpful.
-
- If you find Executor useful enough to regularly want to run it for
- more than ten minutes at a time, you should consider licensing it. If
- do not find it that useful, but it shows promise, you should send
- comments to "bugs@ardi.com". Nothing personal, but it's highly
- unlikely that we'll generate more revenue by adding a small clock
- indicating the time remaining. In essence Veeder's asking us to do
- something that would be useful to Veeder, but is offering nothing in
- return.
-
- Again, the reason Executor exists in demo mode is so that prospective
- buyers can see just how useful Executor currently is (or isn't) and
- then either license it now, ignore it completely, or do something in
- between. The larger the percentage of applications that run under
- Executor, combined with the smaller the number of existing bugs, the
- less the need for a demo mode.
