  5. Beware that sometimes when executor dies, the next time you try to restart
  6. it it might kill X.  For example, get a copy of celpaint.sit.hqx from
  7. mac.archive.umich.edu in the graphics/graphicsutil directory and try
  8. running it, crashes executor.  Then start executor again and I get booted
  9. from X, the X server shuts down and it says something like caught signal
  10. 11.  This is probably because since executor died it didn't get to clean
  11. up any shared memory it was using or such.  My current setup is X11R6 with
  12. XFree86 3.1.1 with a Mach8 (ATI Graphics Ultra 1 Meg) server.  In
  13. addition, after you get booted from X, do a ps -x and kill the
  14. executor process which is still running, otherwise after you go back
  15. into X and run executor again, it will crash again.

  17. Also I had a weird experience that after running StuffIt expander, Go
  18. totally reset itself and all the programs and folders and things that I
  19. had put into the bar were gone.

  21. Lastly, why does executor spin my /dev/fd0 everytime it starts up?
  22. (i.e. drive A:)

  24. Finally, I'm testing out some graphics programs off of the umich
  25. archive and here is a listing of some of them:

  27. 3ddots1.1.cpt.hqx        makes 3d stereograms    needs system 7

  29. appledrawer1.71.cpt.hqx        drawing program        crashes X but
  30.     this takes a little while to do it.  the program starts and
  31.     hangs with a perpetual Z mouse and then after a while moving
  32.     your mouse in the window will crash X - signal 11.

  34. celpaint.sit.hqx        sprite painting prog    crashes X
  35.  
  36. certificatecreator1.cpt.hqx    makes certificates    works
  37.  
  38. designerdraw4.61.cpt.hqx    flowcharting        seems to work -
  39.     has some weird behaviour when you place items, all these
  40.     vertical lines show up, but they disappear after you have
  41.     placed the item.  fonts are a little weird too.

  43. decor2.6.sit.hqx        drawing prog        needs system 7

  45. macconcept3.4v03.cpt.hqx    cad type drawing    works
  46.     the vertical lines also show up here and don't go away until
  47.     you grab the top bar of the internal window and move it a bit.
  48.     nice program actually, pretty good for this type of drawing
  49.  
  50. mattpaint1.93.sit.hqx        drawing prog        crashes
  51.     executor after initial splash screen - just a simple Exit -1.
  52.  
  53. nihimage1.54nonfpu.cpt.hqx    drawing prog        seems to work
  54.     drew some lines, changes some colors, pretty nice.
