  1. Hi Folks,

  3. I've largely been away from my e-mail for three weeks now.  I thought
  4. I was only going to be gone for about a week, but things always take
  5. longer.  But now I'm back.  Don't be surprised if you get e-mail from
  6. me answering mail that you sent me a while back.
  7.  
  8. Because of all the trouble 1.99l had, 1.99m didn't have as much in it
  9. as we'd like; it was largely just a set of bugfixes to 1.99l.  As
  10. such, 1.99n won't be quite as nice as we'd like, the biggest drawback
  11. being that 1.99n won't have Mat's blitter running at full speed and
  12. 1.99n won't run under NEXTSTEP.  The good news is that lately NeXT has
  13. been very nice to us, so 1.99o should run under NEXTSTEP and be fairly
  14. fast, too.

  16. 1.99n is still at least a week away, but here are things that *should*
  17. be in 1.99n that you can use:
  18.  
  19.     Linux permissions fix
  20.  
  21.     Tex-Edit will once again be included; this time it will work
  22.  
  23.     Linux printing improvements
  24.  
  25.     Floppy disk high level Mac formatting
  26.  
  27.     Font/DA installation in Loser
  28.  
  29.     a variety of bugfixes in Loser and Executor proper
  30.  
  31. Here are a couple things that will also be in 1.99n, but that won't be
  32. *directly* usable until 1.99o:

  34.     low-level international keyboard support
  35.  
  36.     Mat's fast blitter
  37.  
  38. In other news, we will soon have a paid liason who will surf the
  39. internet, CompuServe, AOL and maybe Prodigy on ARDI's behalf, politely
  40. mentioning Executor's existence when and where appropriate, and
  41. probably moderating an Executor group on CompuServe and AOL.

  43. We should also be buying a copy of PGP so that we'll be able to take
  44. credit card orders via e-mail from people who are already using PGP.
  45.  
  46. It's a little too early to share the news of the project I was working
  47. on the last few weeks, but when all the i's are dotted and the t's are
  48. crossed, I'll let you know what's up.

  50. That's about all the news from here for now.  I'll now start working
  51. on the approximately 250 e-mail items that require an action from me.
