- Dear Folks,
-
- Work steadily progresses on V1.2.1, the documentation and the
- packaging. We've fixed many bugs, especially printing related ones.
- We think that V1.2.1 will be sufficiently useful to the general
- public that we're going to start *marketing* it instead of just
- selling it through word of mouth. However, the versions that will be
- sold through distributers will not have any restrictions on which
- apps will run and which won't; they'll also come automatically with
- one years worth of free upgrades; the retail price will be $360. If
- you've already purchased a more limited version of Executor for one
- machine and want to upgrade to this fully unlimited version, we'll do
- that for $350 minus whatever you've already paid to us, and we'll
- make sure your free upgrades run until October 1, 1993. If you've
- already purchased a limited version of Executor for multiple machines
- and you want to upgrade, contact me directly. Whether or not you
- upgrade, you'll still be sent a manual and an upgrade to 1.2.1 when
- they're ready.
-
- To get things going, we're putting in a full page ad in the
- next copy of NeXTWORLD. In addition to it being an ad for us, it
- will also list the names, addresses and phone numbers of the
- distributers who have ordered five or more copies for resale before
- August 15th (we have to have the ad final art in by the 21st of
- August). If you're a distributer and you'd like to participate in
- this ad, please send me e-mail. This is the first we've said
- anything of this, so if you're a dealer and I've said that we'd like
- to work with you, we still do; we just haven't sent individual e-mail
- or made calls yet; we're going to be doing much of that next week.
-
- We will still offer the limited versions of Executor, we
- think they are very valuable for people who aren't so much interested
- in emulating a Mac per se, but to just run specific programs (usually
- either Word or Excel). We will also be selling the limited versions
- to VARs so that they can sell a dozen NeXTs, equipped with Word
- and/or Excel, without having to pay for a full purpose Mac emulator.
-
- Gotta run,
-
- --Cliff
