  3. People have been asking me about what's going to be in V1.2, other than  
  4. complete printing support and Word 5.0 support.  The other major  
  5. difference will be the filesystem.  It's not totally clear what will be  
  6. in V1.2 and what will have to wait, but here's what things look like now.

  9. V1.2 may have the ability to read and write directly to hard disks.  I'm  
  10. putting in the code to do that, although there are a couple of questions  
  11. I need the answer to before I can be sure that it will be done on time.   
  12. I was hoping to have most of the cool filesystem stuff in the Excel beta  
  13. testers copy.  With Sophy competing tomorrow I won't get to spend any  
  14. time on it then, leaving only the rest of today and Sunday to do a whole  
  15. bunch of work.  I hope to have some good filesystem stuff in for the  
  16. first round of Excel testing, but even it it doesn't all make it in by  
  17. Sunday night, I'm still ahead of schedule.

  19. V1.2 cool file stuff (+ denotes a feature that probably won't be in the  
  20. first Excel beta testers copy, * denotes a feature that may not make it  
  21. into V1.2 (implies +) ):

  23.     Access to the entire UNIX filesystem (i.e. no need to "dwrite")
  24.     Support for multiple floppies
  25.     *Support for hard disks
  26.     +bugfixes for:
  27.         stuffit
  28.         compactor pro
  29.         Apple's installer (necessary for Word5 and Excel3)
  30.     +GatorBox support
  31.     +NFS/share support
  32.     *uShare support
  33.     Access to floppies and hard disks directly from Executor and the  
  34. programs that Executor runs
  35.     *HFS_XFer and Executor merged
  36.  
  37. The side effect of all this is that the documentation will not be done by  
  38. the time the software is, but we'll be willing to send the software  
  39. before the docs are ready if people are interested.
