  1. 1.  To the list-person:  If you are going to keep sending  
  2. these out with reply-address (From:) as the whole list alias,  
  3. most of the bright and busy people are going to leave the  
  4. list.

  6. 2.  To the guy with the question about Quark:  If Quark would  
  7. run, don't you think they'd publicize it?  They stupidly  
  8. decided to do Microsoft Word -- a program that's much _less_  
  9. good than the several word-processors already running on NeXT  
  10. with a real NextStep interface -- first, and it ain't even  
  11. done.  Who in his right mind would pay for the privilege of  
  12. running that second-rate program on his NeXT?  If ARDI had any  
  13. brains, they'd have done Quark first.  They'd have charged  
  14. $1,000 as soon as Quark would run -- most desktop publishing  
  15. people like me would pay it -- and then think about cutting  
  16. the price for the other, less demanding folks later, instead  
  17. of raising it for the better people later.

  19. 3.  If you're asking a question that ARDI refused to answer or  
  20. couldn't, it makes sense to post it to this list.  If you're  
  21. asking a question of ARDI, direct it to them and please keep  
  22. it the hell off this list.  Then, if you get an interesting  
  23. and helpful answer, post that answer for the rest of us if you  
  24. care to be helpful.

  26. 4.  Nobody ever bought a Mac to get MS Word or Excel!  Lotus  
  27. is much better as a spreadsheet, and PageMaker, Quark, Frame,  
  28. and WriteNow are all better than Word (each in its own place).   
  29. As long as Executor only supports the two fairly useless Mac  
  30. products, it will never sell at any price.  For all practical  
  31. purposes, this product doesn't exist yet.  Calm down.  Cool  
  32. it.  Don't ask questions, just listen.  Someday, if ARDI lasts  
  33. despite its extremely foolish priorities, you'll hear that it  
  34. can do something useful.  I'll bet they could have found 500  
  35. companies to each advance them $1,000 for the promise of 2  
  36. copies of something that would run both Quark and Freehand.
