  16. First I'd like to say how happy I am with my new purchase.
  17. It is definitely money well spent (and ARDI even gracefully told me I had 
  18. accidentally overpaid by $20...)

  22. I use a CDROM via an NFS mount.
  23. The CD is actually mounted on my SPARC, and I access the CDROM by 
  24. exporting it to Linux, so it looks just like a regular directory.

  26. My problem is that I can see there is the HFV volume there on the CD,
  27. but I can't access it.  It just looks like a regular file.
  28. If I try to open it by double clicking on it, my text editor just coughs.

  30. How do I access the HFV volume on the CD from Executor?

  32. Also with regard to special users etc:

  34. I wondered how I could allow a user to access executor under linux, but be
  35. able to add or delete files without having to be Super User.

  37. Should I create a special group or user?
  38. Perhaps a special login, with a home directory that just does mac stuff?

  40. Currently, I installed executor as root, but run it as a regular user, 
  41. and it works fine except when I want to write to the area on my 
  42. disk set aside for mac bits and pieces.  
  43. I am not using a HFV volume for this - just regular EXT2 files.

  45. What strategy have others put in place to allow transparent usage of executor
  46. without having to be root everytime I want to remove or add a file?
  47. A special account maybe?

  49. Finally, the SVGAlib version under linux does not work for me at all.
  50. When I run it, the video mode changes to I don't know what and it is 
  51. unrecoverable.

  53. I get what looks like 4 screens on the display and it is in some unfathomable
  54. video mode.  How do I restore my regular text mode after this accident?

  56. A reboot was the only thing that fixed this problem.

  58. Matter of fact - I tried the SVGAlib command "restoretextmode" and it 
  59. crashed my system - froze it up completely. 
  60. The silly SVGA game "abuse" works OK, but executor and other SVGA apps don't.

  62. I am using kernel 1.2.13 and SVGAlib 1.2.27??
  63. My display card is Trident TVGA9400cxi  - pretty standard stuff, that 
  64. runs X well in 1024x768x256...

  66. I can't find any decent documentation on SVGAlib anywhere, and no answers 
  67. on USENET from people who have seen this problem before.
