  35. If you're running Win'95, then you need to run the 16-bit version of
  36. MSCDEX.  Unfortunately the procedure for doing that varies
  37. considerably from machine to machine.  If you have free access to
  38. tech. support via a phone, bbs or internet group you should ask "What
  39. do I put in my config.sys and autoexec.bat to load my CD-ROM driver
  40. and then get the 16-bit version of MSCDEX started?"

  42. Most likely your config.sys will need a line that looks something like this:

  44. device=c:\scsi\cdrom.sys/d:cdrom
  45.  
  46. and your autoexec.bat will need a line that looks something like this:
  47.  
  48. mscdex/d:cdrom
  49.  
  50. The portion that varies from system to system is the the path and name
  51. of your CD-ROM driver.  In the example above (on a SCSI based PC),
  52. it's "c:\scsi\cdrom.sys", but I don't know what it will be on your
  53. system.

  55. After you've done that, you may still need to restart your machine in
  56. DOS mode in order to get to the CD-ROM, but once you've got the old
  57. version of MSCDEX running you should be able to read Mac formatted
  58. CD-ROMs, at least from E/D when run from DOS.
