- Based on Executor 2 Beta1, I'd guess we'll put the following things on
- the final Executor 2 CD-ROM, BUT THIS IS ONLY A GUESS -- CONTENTS
- SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE:
-
- Installers for Executor/DOS, Executor/Linux and
- Executor/NEXTSTEP. The Executor/Linux installer will ask if
- you want to install a.out or ELF binaries and will install
- both executor and executor-svga. Executor/NEXTSTEP will be
- fat for both m68k and x86 CPUs. The DOS version will also
- have a couple directories you can copy to floppies so you can
- install from floppies. The CD-ROM will also have a demo
- version of all three flavors of Executor so you can go to a
- friends house and install the demo version to help convince
- your friend to buy a copy of Executor so we can hire even more
- engineers.
-
-
- For each platform, an expanded copy of what the installers
- install. That way if a particular file in the distribution
- gets corrupt, you can copy just the file that you need, rather
- than copying the entire distribution.
-
- An evaluation copy of SciTechSoft's Display Doctor that
- Executor/DOS users can try out to see if it helps. If it
- does, you'll need to license a copy from SciTech.
-
- HTML back issues of the Executor mailing list from 1992 to the
- release of beta0.
-
- The source to the Browser (Think C).

- The shareware, demoware and freeware will be both in a single HFV and
- as separate HQX files that you can install individually.
- Additionally, CD-ROM magic has been done so that the single HFV will
- appear as a Mac CD-ROM from within Executor, or on a real Mac. That
- lets you compare Executor running the above apps (most of which can be
- run directly off the CD-ROM) with a Mac doing the same thing.
-
-
- We will also have a few extra README files to help fill in the gaps
- left in our 32-page mini manual (that will be in the CD-ROM jewel
- box).
-
- We believe we have permission to include all of the above software on
- our CD-ROM. Many of the shareware apps required us getting explicit
- permission, since many shareware authors don't want stuff popping up
- on CD-ROMs without them knowing it, but we've gotten permission in all
- the cases that we think we need it. To be sure we've sent beta1
- CD-ROMs to all the software authors so that if they have objections
- they can make them now, before we burn 5,000 copies of E2.
-
-
- We hope to have the final CD-ROM contents finalized soon after I get
- back from MacHack '96. We have a little artwork and manual cleanup to
- do, too, but basically we're done. Beta1 was close enough that we're
- pretty sure that what we have now is good enough. After E2 is out
- we'll start making patches available again.
-
- Thanks for everyone's patience.
