  21. I was so taken by executor that I have just ordered a copy for 
  22. my home system :)

  24. I've just installed Word 5.1 in my evaluation copy (E-DOS)
  25. here at work, and it seems to work very well, so I know I bought well.

  27. However the target platform I am running on at home will be linux.

  29. I tried the Linux X version but it appears to be much slower than the DOS 
  30. one - I have 52Mb of RAM under Linux, but only 256kb of cache.

  32. Will upgrading the cache improve performance much with E-linux?

  34. Also, will running Executor in mono speed it up as well?
  35. How do I set it to mono?

  37. The way I use it is to display the pseudo-mac on my SPARC X-console,
  38. this seems to work well - and there seems to be no performance difference
  39. using it either on the Linux X console or on the SPARC via X protocol.
  40. I don't wish to run X servers on Linux as it is meant to be a file 
  41. server, not a workstation...

  43. When I displayed executor on a PC X server (MSDOS), however, performance 
  44. dropped quite a bit.  Why would this be?

  46. All my displays on Linux and the PC X server are 8 bit (generic SVGA), 
  47. and on the SPARC as a cg3...

  49. of course I did not bother to try spawning multiple sessions, because 
  50. linux won't handle it, but I would like to speed up video performance.
  51. What is the best way to do this?

  53. Finally, is there a list of applications known to run on executor?
  54. (yes I know Word 5 does)

  56. I am *not* interested in games, but useful software, and something like 
  57. Photoshop would be nice ;)
