- Gates rocks as a businessman. You may abhor the system that makes
- such a thing possible, and you can even claim that it's not
- interesting, but he's meeting his own goals and probably doesn't think
- that his ethics are incorrect. I'd like to smash Microsoft (and I
- think free software could do so although Microsoft is moving into
- other avenues so it might just be a matter of squishing him down one
- place and popping up another), but I respect Bill Gates.
-
- Michael> 2) Steve Jobs whining about Bill Gates and John Sculley
-
- Love/hate with Steve Jobs. He obviously has some *major* blind spots.
- That wasn't lost on Cringely, he deliberately commented that after
- John Sculley was put in place that Apple did the best that it ever
- did.
-
- Michael> 3) Adele Goldberg being really cool. She's always cool.
- Michael> She made the world cool.
-
- I rode on a plane with her once and may have even described what I was
- doing with ROMlib back then. She never said "HEY JERK -- DO YOU KNOW
- WHO I AM". I think I'd be less embarrassed about my mistake so many
- years later if she *had* pointed it out to me. That's cool.
-
- OTOH, Adele also wouldn't show her technology to others unless she was
- required to by her supervisor. That's not cool, although like Bill
- Gates, it is more a product of our current system than a personal
- failing of Adele.

- That show was the best bit of video about computers that I can recall
- ever seeing. I had many people tell me the same thing, including
- non-computer relatives watching looking for a glimpse of me (and being
- disappointed that I wasn't on longer) and computer professionals. I
- think we'll have to disagree on Bob's journalistic ability.
-
- Michael> 5) Albuquerque depicted in, oh, the worst light anyone

-
- Heh.
-
- Michael> 6) Damn, Steve Jobs really was drop dead gorgeous in his
- Michael> twenties.
-
- I'll have to take your word on that.

- Judging from the lignux discussion it looks like the Hurd will be
- released soon. Congrats.
