  29. Thanks.  Many of the visual tune-ups are due to suggestions from Jon
  30. Abbott.  He's sent us a few more that we hope to incorporate into the
  31. final version, but the changes won't be that big.

  38. We were getting so heavily pirated (and the pirates were even calling
  39. up our tech. support lines) that we decided we had to move from an
  40. unlockable demo to a truly crippled demo.

  42. This does *NOT* mean that you'll be locked out of getting updates via
  43. the net, at least not for much longer.  What it does mean is that we
  44. will be sending Executor 2 CD-ROMs to all the 1.<x> licensees, and
  45. then it we'll make patches available electronically that will only be
  46. useful to people who have the CD-ROM.

  48. So the period between when beta0 came out and when E2 comes out is an
  49. unfortunate time when you can't pick up free updates.  We wish we
  50. didn't have to do this, but once we've completed the transition it
  51. won't be as painful anymore.

  56. We hand picked about a dozen people to send copies of beta0 to.  Those
  57. same dozen people will also get a copy of beta1.  We're also allowing
  58. people to get beta1 for $25, which covers the cost of us making a
  59. bunch extra and also keeps the requests for beta1 down to a managable
  60. level, which is needed because all three of us are working full time
  61. to get the Executor 2, the real thing, out the door.

  67. No.  There will never be a way to download non-crippled versions of
  68. Executor again.  The non-crippled versions will be on CD-ROMs.
  69. Bleeding edge *patches* to the non-crippled versions will become
  70. available, but everyone will need a CD-ROM (either beta1 or the final
  71. E2) to use those patches.
