  13. Downloaded beta0 r2, then r3.  First of all, the graphics (icons, splash
  14. screen, etc.) look great!  Also, I can read Mac formatted Zip disks on my
  15. parallel drive!  This is a great addition!  NIH Image ran rather zippily
  16. (sorry) off of the Zip drive considering my ancient machine (386DX25, 20 MB
  17. RAM, Herc Dyna Pro with 2 MB DRAM).  I can no longer read IBM or
  18. Mac-formatted Zip disks under Warp with the beta's, but I guess that's due
  19. to the removed code, coupled with the way a VDM is handled by Warp...
  20. (please correct me if I'm wrong and even if this is sort-of right- I'd be
  21. interested in a more intelligent explanation than the one I just guessed.)
  22. I can read/write IBM Zips under Warp with 1.99q12.

  24. I don't know if Speedometer readings are valid under the crippled beta0's,
  25. but I ran the tests anyway under DOS and Warp (with 16 MB DPMI memory
  26. allocated).  Here are the results along with results from previous E/D
  27. versions, since I made a mistake in one of my earlier posts.

  31. 1.99p9 Warp = 1.164
  32. 1.99q12 DOS = 1.197

  35. beta0r2 Warp = 1.016

  37. I still don't really notice a slowdown when running apps, but Speedometer
  38. says it's a little slower than q12.

  40. I also copied down the various traceback messages when attempting to run
  41. PhotoWorks for MacIntosh under q12, beta0r2 and r3, but since I figure that
  42. the crashes are due to a need for Quicktime support by this app, that I
