As far as I know, apps made for system 7.5 are system 7.5 "savvy".  Meaning
that they take advantage of changes, but are not incompatable with earlier
systems.  Apple did not pull a "microsoft" and modify the system in such a
way as to make earlier software useless.

Apple has made a reputation as a company that works to ensure that there OS
interoperates politely with both old and new software.  There are a few
unfortunate cases were companies or individuals have bypassed the tollbox,
and ended up making software that lasted only a year.  But on the other end
of the spectrum we have products that are almost ten years old that still
run on a modern mac, with the new OS.

We also have Executor.  An OS emulator, running on a synthetic CPU that can
run the Mac OS based software in DOS on a 486 ( or a pentium, or in Linux,
or on a Next box).  That this is at all possible is a tribute to Apple's
toolbox concept, and the programmers over the years who have stuck to the
rules.  We know who they are, there software is the stuff that still runs.
