  19. A couple of days ago someone posted that they they heard someone else
  20. say that they had managed to successfully get Finder from System 6
  21. running under Executor.  I remembered someone else trying this trick
  22. before but not having any success, but I decided to try it myself and
  23. see if any of the more recent additions to Executor had improved the
  24. situation.

  26. I downloaded 6.0.8 (apparently the last System 6.x) from Apple at:

  31. and restored the Disk Copy images on a real Mac (since it Disk Copy
  32. doesn't seem to work under Executor) and copied Finder over and set
  33. its creator/type to be an application.  Upon running it, nothing
  34. happened--it just sits there without displaying a menu bar or
  35. anything, so I would assume that it's still not possible (at least
  36. with 6.0.8).

  38. If I remember correctly, Cliff mentioned that Finder most likely uses
  39. some of the ROM functions that they hadn't implemented yet.  Is there
  40. any estimate as to how many additionl functions would be needed to get
  41. Finder to run now?  Would it be worthwhile to try Finders from even
  42. earlier Systems or would they all produce the same result (just
  43. sitting there)?
