- Here is what may be a stupid question about memory use under
- Executor. I'm probably just missing something simple but
- maybe someone can help me understand what is happening.
-
- I run executor under DOS 6.2 on a machine with "8 megs" of
- ram. For testing, I turn off any disk cashing by SMARTDRV.
- The DOS mem command says:
- Total Used Free
- Conventional 640 46 594
- Upper 0 0 0
- Reserved 128 128 0
- XMS 7424 64 7360
-
-
- I do an executor -info command and executor reports:
-
- 5.43 Meg of Potentially useful DPMI Memory
- and assigns the memory as follows:
- applzone 2.71 Meg
- syszone 0.5 Meg
- Stack 0.25 Meg
- I presume this all comes out of the 5.43 total it found.
-
- What happened to all the rest of the memory? Is Executor
- itself using it? That's 1.7 Meg and 5.43 + 1.7 still only
- adds up to 7.13. It would seem there should be a total
- memory of 7.36 M + 594 K unused and available.
-
- How does Executor do memory allocation under DOS?
