  18. Check all the batch files (.BAT).  The executable for 386 and 486 computers
  19. is called gs386.exe and the batch files all try to call an earlier version
  20. called just gs.exe.  Like Executor, it responds to the -help switch with a
  21. help screen, which will tell you if your printer and video card are
  22. directly support.

  24. As far as printing goes, it has an IBMpro and an Epson driver, so most
  25. printer should be ok in emulation.  I set my Fujitsu DL3400 to default
  26. modes and use the IBMpro driver for printing, and I have a Trident video
  27. card which is directly supported.

  29. Pick up as many of the .gsf files from the directory as you can, those are
  30. the fonts.  If you are short on time, or have a really slow connection,
  31. pick up the index and check which fonts each file emulates (Times, Courier
  32. etc.) and at least get the ones you plan to use.  The default/backup font
  33. that comes with ghostview is called ugly.gsf and it is.  I have tested
  34. files from Word 5.1a and ClarisWorks 2.xxx and they both came out OK.
  35. Extremely respectable, especially for a 24 pin printer with one pin out!

  37. Off the top of my head, I remeber that it does HP deskjets, (a dj and a
  38. dj500 driver as well as some high end drivers) the Canon BJ10, and of
  39. course epson and ibmpro.  The only specific video drivers I remember are
  40. trident and tseng, but it also must have a generic vga driver, because it
  41. will run without a video driver present, the resolution and colour depth
  42. are just lower.

  44. I hope that this is helpful.  If you can find some way to pipe the .ps
  45. files from Executor into Ghostview, I will be very happy to hear about it.
