  20. I'm hoping that some one can solve the problems I'm having trying
  21. to run Ultima III (the recent port by beastie@lairware.com, see
  22. also http://www.lairware.com/~beastie/ultima3.html) on Executor.

  24. A bit about my configuration:
  25. Pentium 66/16MB
  26. Ati Graphics Ultra Pro PCI (VBE 1.2)
  27. Soundblaster Pro
  28. Executor/Dos 1.99q9

  30. I've been playing with Ultima III for a few months.  The good news:
  31. It works.  Sound effects work.  But music doesn't.  (I didn't even
  32. bother trying speech).

  34. I get the error message:

  36. Ultima III has run out of memory while attempting to get a music
  37. track.  Use Finder's Get Info command to give another 100K or so
  38. to Ultima III
  39.  
  40. Naturally, Browser isn't quite up to the task.  I have also tried
  41. to use executor -applzone 8m to get more memory, but that doesn't
  42. seem to work.

  44. Another quirk:  When Ultima III loads up, it "wipes" in EXODUS,
  45. which SHOULD be accompanied by some sound effects (works fine on
  46. my Amiga/Emplant) but isn't.  Then it "wipes" in Ultima III which
  47. SHOULD also be accompanied by some sound effects (although I
  48. could have sworn that this used to work on Executor -- I tried
  49. going back to 1.99q but no luck.  Then I tried 1.99p and had
  50. no sound at all).  Finally it shows a small animation of a bunch
  51. of adventurers fighting a dragon.  The dragon breathes on them
  52. and that sound works perfectly.

  54. Naturally, ARDI is very busy, but maybe one day ...
