  28. *NOTE* This is a FreeBSD system.  I wish I had a linux system to test it 
  29. on, but unfortunately hardware is scarce in this household.  If any kind 
  30. soul out there who has Linux, Executor, and MSWord has a few free clock 
  31. cycles and wouldn't mind testing this to see if it is a real bug or not, 
  32. please do so, I'd appreciate it greatly.

  34. Anyway, here's the bug: I was working on a file, and saved it as "FAQ- 
  35. Running Executor under FreeBSD".  AFAIK this is a valid Mac filename, and 
  36. Word didn't complain because it allowed me to save under that name.  Ok, 
  37. so the file is there (I checked).  I shutdown my computer because it was 
  38. bedtime.

  40. I got up the next morning and decided to continue working on this file (I 
  41. wasn't done yet).  I fired up Executor and ran MSWord.  I went to the 
  42. "File...Open" dialog and tried to retrieve the file.  BUT IT DID NOT 
  43. APPEAR IN THE "OPEN FILE" DIALOG BOX.  I popped open a UNIX shell window 
  44. and did an ls.  It's not my imagination; the file really did exist.  
  45. Weird.  Furthermore, the file appeared under the MSWord "last <x> 
  46. documents" list, and I am able to select it there and the file DOES 
  47. open.

  49. I then looked in Browser, and the file DID NOT APPEAR IN THE BROWSER 
  50. WINDOWS EITHER.

  52. FYI the file was saved in the UNIX filesystem, NOT in a "hfv" file.  I 
  53. tried saving this file in a HFV file, and I got the error "Disk not 
  54. found" from MSWord.

  56. There's either one of three things wrong here:
  57.  
  58. a) "FAQ- Running Executor under FreeBSD" is NOT a valid Mac filename, and
  59.    either Word and/or Executor was at fault in NOT telling me "hey, that's
  60.    not a good filename" when I saved it.
  61. b) "FAQ- Running Executor under FreeBSD" IS a valid filename, and
  62.    something is wrong with Executor's filesystem handling code or something.
  63. c) This is a FreeBSD-specific problem, and does not happen under other
  64.    Executors (i.e. running under real Linux, or DOS, or whatnot).  This
  65.    is why I would be very grateful if someone who has a Linux or other
  66.    system could test this for me.
