  33. You miss the point. It has nothing to do with legally owning the ROMS. The
  34. problem is that the product would be a "derivative work" based on material
  35. that is copyrighted by Apple. The fact that a user would be required to use
  36. the Apple ROMS would would make it an open and shut case.

  38. This is similar to the problems with the early PC clone BIOS chips, which
  39. were created by reverse engineering the IBM ROMS. Clones only became legal
  40. when "non-infringing" BIOS, based on clean-room development, became
  41. available.
