  37. Imagine the problems that Insignia would have had if, Microsoft not
  38. only would not talk to them,  threatened to sue them, and forced them
  39. to write their own implementation of Windows from scratch.  You will
  40. note that the two programs which have tried this (WINE and W
  41. I) have had serious problems as well.

  43. In many respects trying to run 68040 code on a x86 is the equivalent of
  44. writing a '486 emulator for the '286.  It is much more difficult
  45. emulation.

  47. Obviously, we would all like the ability to run beta versions of
  48. Copeland on our x86 machines, but the program is still developing.  I
  49. am sure that if Apple granted Cliff several licenses he could put his
  50. development program into Warp drive, but everything he has do is being
  51. done by clean room only engineering (unlike the big fellas, there is no
  52. dirty team).  With Apple's litigation history, everything has to then
  53. be triple checked legally before it gets out the door.  Remember that
  54. if Apple nails him on one point he could be in big trouble.
