- Richard> Hi,
-
- Richard> I've got a couple of questions about the upcoming 2.0.
- Richard> First off, how much more functionality will there be in
- Richard> 2.0 than there is now in 1.99q?
-
- Very few extra features. We expect that many more bugs will be fixed.
-
- Richard> While Executor is an amazing piece of software, and
- Richard> while I'm extremely impressed and excited by it, I must
- Richard> say that I'm a bit disappointed by the small number of
- Richard> apps it can currently successfully run.
-
- We too would like Executor to run more apps. We're working on it
- night and day.
-
- Richard> I'd be very interested in seeing the major productivity
- Richard> apps work, period: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop,
- Richard> QuarkXPress, etc. Those are the apps that really set the
- Richard> Mac apart in my mind, and are what I really miss having a
- Richard> Mac at home for.
-
- We have Illustrator 5.5, Photoshop 3 and XPress 3.3 "limping" in
- house. Bugs in those programs are fairly high priority (although we
- have our hands full with the DOS floppy/sound problems) so you can
- expect some improvement in thos apps by the time E2 ships.
-
- Richard> I've heard rumours that we'll be able to get a copy of
- Richard> System 7.5 and install it on top of Executor, for even
- Richard> more functionality. Is this true?
-
- It is our goal for 1996, but it's a tough one. We can't guarantee it,
- only that we will try for it.
-
- Richard> Now, questions about pricing and such. If, as a student,
- Richard> I purchase a copy of Executor now, what does that entitle
- Richard> me to in the future?
-
- You'll get the same thing that any pre-beta 1.99<x> purchaser of
- Executor gets: a free Executor 2 CD-ROM sent when they're back from
- the duplicators (still a ways away).
-
- Richard> The FAQ was slightly unclear about all of this. Do I get
- Richard> a copy of 2.0 when it comes out? Do I get updates to
- Richard> 2.0?
-
- Copy of E2? Yes.
-
- Updates to E2, you'll get whatever free updates (if any) that we
- provide to people who buy E2 when it is released. We haven't
- officially decided what the policy will be there.
-
- Richard> And if I wait for 2.0 to come out, will there be a
- Richard> student price?
-
- Not necessarily. We have to make arrangements with our future
- distributors.
-
- Richard> Thanks greatly, and keep up the great work! Executor is
- Richard> amazing!
-
- Thank you. It's getting better, too.
