Date: Tue, 13 Feb 1996 20:26:57 -0600 From: osiris@cs.utexas.edu Sender: owner-paper@ardi.com Precedence: bulk Could someone clarify the use of the environment variables that Executor uses? The FAQ doesn't really explain what they do. * ConfigurationFolder "+/Configuration" * SystemFolder "+/ExecutorVolume/System Folder" * PublicDirectoryMap "+/DirectoryMap" * PrivateDirectoryMap "~/.Executor/DirectoryMap" * DefaultFolder "+/ExecutorVolume" * MacVolumes "+/exsystem.hfv;+" * PrintFolder "/tmp" * ScreenDumpFolder "/tmp" What's the difference between the private and public directory maps? Does every user need one of each? Also, I assume I have to copy the contents of the distributed "System Folder" to each user's private directory, but what about the other directories; do I copy the contents of the other directories as well, or will Executor re-create them? Also, does each user need a private screen dump or print folder, i.e. does Executor create tmp files with unique names? Lastly, is there any easy way to handle updating these folders on a per user basis when I install a newer version of Executor? Thanks -- Rob
