  21. A DX4 should have relatively good speed.  Do you have enough RAM?
  22. What operating system do you use?  If you were running under Windows
  23. it would be probably slower.  You should use it in plain DOS or if in 
  24. Win '95 shut down in DOS mode.

  30. The processor speed is okay.  The graphics is what's probably slow.  
  31. It all depends on your graphics card.  Did you try UniVBE (available
  32. in the DOS directory) to emulate a VBE 2.0 graphics card.  That, for
  33. some people, makes executor work much faster.

  42. The newest version has relatively neat System 7 support for well-behaved
  43. programs.  It also has fuzzy fizzy sound that your friend will hate but
  44. all of us love!

  46. Soft Windows has licenses to all the source code and stuff,
  47. and compared with executor's hardware emulation, is slow.

  53. You don't understand.  There is a REAL synthetic CPU under executor that
  54. flawlessly emulates a Motorola 68040.  Because Executor is a CLEAN-ROOM
  55. project, the programmers work all day trying to guess what is in the 
  56. undocumented Mac ROMS.  The Browser can be made to have improvements,
  57. but the real goal is to run programs, right?

  59. Executor runs quite a few of programs very well.  MS Word, for instance, 
  60. works and people who use these applications at work could use the 
  61. compatibility.  Some of the people here love the old games.  I also have
  62. an Apple ][e emulator.  Useless? nah.  It has some good games and a good
  63. way to begin BASIC programming.

  68. It's a toy for some people.  For some it's not.  That's the goal of the 
  69. demo: to allow testing of programs.

  74. You wish.  Executor has spend the last 9 (or is it 10 now) working on
  75. this program and nobody can copy it without licensing the Mac ROMS and
  76. also getting the synthetic CPU from Mat Hostetter.

  89. 2.0 is scheduled for March, (I think).  They're planning to have a Win '95
  90. version after 2.0 comes out.
