  1. ftp.ardi.com now contains 1.99q for DOS, Linux and NEXTSTEP, but
  2. because ftp.ardi.com is so slow, I highly recommend you pick it up
  3. from vorlon.mit.edu or wait a day and pick it up from one of the other
  4. mirrors.

  6. This is a complete new experimental version.  There is a new browser
  7. and we've replaced the Lemmings Demo with an "Oh No! More Lemmings"
  8. Demo, since the latter has sound effects and music under Executor (DOS
  9. and Linux only).

  11. This is likely to be the last release we can make before MACWORLD
  12. Expo, since we will be leaving Albuquerque on the 6th of January.
  13.  
  14. If we don't hear of any showstoppers in 1.99q in the next 24 hours,
  15. we'll upload 1.99q to the major DOS site (SimTel), the major Linux
  16. sites (sunsite, tsx-11) and the major NEXTSTEP sites (?orst + sonata?)
  17. and the major on-line services (CompuServe, AOL).  NOTE: We haven't
  18. put a NEXTSTEP version on a non-ARDI site in a long time.  It will be
  19. interesting to see what sort of reception we get in the NEXTSTEP
  20. community.

  22. Thank you for supporting us in 1995.  Since we started the year with a
  23. very solid framework (that's taken us years to build), we were able to
  24. make more external progress in 1995 than we apparently made in the
  25. eight years previous to that.  We hope that in 1996 we'll be able to
  26. provide more native ports (Windows '95 and OS/2), more features
  27. (networking and serial port access) and greater compatibility (both at
  28. the application level and also at the Apple system software level).
  29. We have the knowledge; we have the code framework; we have the
  30. debugging tools, and most importantly we have a stable of top-notch
  31. engineers that we'll get on board, once Executor 2 is generating some
  32. revenue.  We still have to finalize our packaging and go through a
  33. real beta period, but we'll be able to do that as soon as we get back
  34. from San Francisco.

  64. I have recently run across several file handling errors with Executor.
  65. 1] executor seems to have problems with directories that end in a period
  66. ("."). For example, if I use a directory called "MacEqns." then I am
  67. (often) unable to store any files inside without getting some error.
  68.  
  69. 2] Often after running CompactPro a few times, I start getting file
  70. error messages. These messages go away after quitting Executor and
  71. starting again.

  108. Try comp.sys.amiga.emulations newsgroup. ShapeShifter is the
  109. Amiga Mac emulator. It runs System 7.x and uses Mac 512k/1meg
  110. ROMs for emulation... Much much much nicer than Executor simply
  111. because it uses  the actual Mac ROMs.
