  35. Yeah, Rick's letter certainly *sounds* suspicious, but it turns out
  36. that what he was requesting is valid.  Executor was first released for
  37. NEXTSTEP three years ago.  ARDI was doing well selling on that
  38. platform until NeXT suddenly stopped making NeXT hardware.  We had to
  39. temporarily shift our emphasis from Executor/NEXTSTEP to Executor/DOS
  40. (which is where the money is) and Executor/Linux (which is where we do
  41. our development).  For a long time our NEXTSTEP customers were left
  42. without new versions of Executor to use, and 1.99q will be the first
  43. experimental NEXTSTEP version to be released.  As part of the porting
  44. process, we changed the format of our serial numbers and keys and as
  45. such, we have to reassign S/N and keys to all our NEXTSTEP customers.

  47. So, in the meantime, we publicly released a Executor/NEXTSTEP key that
  48. was good for all of October (and then a new key that was good for all
  49. of November) that anyone can use to unlock Executor/NEXTSTEP between
  50. now and when we finally get everyone their new keys.  We really
  51. thought we'd get this done in October, and then we thought we'd get it
  52. done in November, but, as you can see, things slipped, so we had to
  53. issue a new key.
