Make sure you have cdrom SCSI support installed in your kernel. If you running slackware you might want to run the setup program to make the synlink from the SCSI device to /dev/cdrom. Then it should work. Make sure you terminate the apple-cdrom..=) They are known for not doing it internal on some of their cdroms.
